HOW WONDERFUL IT IS TO BE MARRIED TO A WIFE LIKE MINE

HOW WONDERFUL IT IS TO BE MARRIED TO A WIFE LIKE MINE

Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and

obtains favor from the LORD.”

As I contemplated another anniversary with LaRheasa (we will be married 43 years August 9), I considered the world and the mess that Satan has made of families. The unfaithfulness which God clearly condemns in scripture has become rampant, and many children live in broken homes. Hearts ache because failure in the home abounds. I thank God for the women that rear their children to the best of their ability, without a man’s influence. I thank God for the women that try to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Church, we need to set the example in these issues in a world that has given up the Bible, and in a world that needs to come back to God we need to teach his will in the understanding of the family, in the understanding of the church, and in the understanding of the Bible.

Brothers, be thankful for the woman God gave to you, and realize how much you need her. Thank her for what she does. Praise her in conversations with other men. Let her know you love her every day. Build the marriage God wants you to have. Truly, if more men did this, there would be happier homes. Remember that you are the head of the home, as per Genesis 2.

Consider these passages:

Genesis 2:18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. . .  22-24 And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Matthew 19:3-9 And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?” He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”

Ephesians 5:22-27 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

Colossians 3:18-19 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

1 Peter 3:7-8 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

We could spend more time in study of men who did not love their wives, or those who allowed their wife (wives) to lead their heart astray. We consider men like Solomon who had 700 wives and 300 concubines (1 Kings 11:3) and see how these women led his heart away from God.  Thank God for Godly women who help their family, and who help others because of the heart they have for Jesus.

Thank you

  Tommy
